Day 26, 7/18 -- That toddlin' town!

Toured Lincoln's Presidential Museum and Library first thing. Surprisingly high tech features made it a very moving and informative experience. The initial "movie"  has an actor in a library opening books from which leap out holographic "ghosts" and historical objects. At the end the actor himself disappears into history!
Lincoln's life is divided into his early years up until he runs for President. There are recreations of his log cabin home, law office, and marriage to Mary Todd.
Then his White House years unfold inside a recreation of the building at that time. The war years, his personal losses (3 of their 4 sons died), and his political struggles are recreated.
There are many original photos and hand written documents: Gettysburg address, Emancipation Proclamation, letters, etc. And his hat. Turned out we weren't supposed to take photos, so these are all I've got!
That was just the start of the day!  We drove to Chicago, sometimes along Rt 66 again. Got here about rush hour, lots of traffic. We have a decent hotel near the Navy Pier and on the Red Line to Wrigley Field, where Jarad will see Pearl Jam tomorrow with his friend Hunter.
Had supper at Gino's of the East -- most excellent deep dish pizza!  Two slices and you're stuffed!
The place is decorated with solid graffiti!  Of course we had to add our own!
Waddled back to our hotel. Going to bed early so these guys can get up early to go purchase limited PJ merchandise...

Oh by the way, it appears the biomass burning plant may be a dead issue in Greenfield. The court case we brought required the builder to submit plans by yesterday. And he didn't.  Yay!!  5 long years of stress and struggle are over...
