Day 19 Bye Grand Canyon, Hello Road

Wrote a whole long descriptive blog and then lost it all!  Has been that kind of day. So will just post the pictures:
Hard to leave the wonders of the Grand Canyon. Saw ten California condors soaring up high and a family of mt sheep as we were leaving!
Will never forget the awe we felt here, over the scenery, the wildlife, the stars, and the lovely people gathered in reverence from all over the world.
Took a detour to Meteor Crater, largest, most intact asteroid crash site in the world. A bit hokey but impressive at one mile across!
Visited the worlds largest rock shop with piles of geodes and a forest of petrified wood. Plus the obligatory dino statues!
Passed across famous Rt 66 a few times
Then toured Petrified Forest National Park.  So many whole logs scattered all over its 28 mile length.  It was raining (much needed here!) so all the colors were bright.

The thunderclouds made an impressive sunset!
Still had to drive straight north through 100 miles of Navajo territory to our stop for the night, Cortez CO. Made 5000 miles just before...
