Day 14 (7.6.13)-- Journey to Page

Once again I find myself in awe of this country's natural beauty, and at a loss of words to describe the incredible sights we have seen.

Bryce Canyon Natl Park was truly an unforgettable experience... And pictures can't even come close to representing the extraordinary majesty that park holds...

I can now understand why my mom refers to Bryce Canyon as her favorite place on earth... The strata formations, called "hoodoos," are unlike anything I have ever seen.  Gigantic yet delicate minarets and pinnacles in pinks and whites spread as far as the eye can see.  The formations on top of the canyon in white reminded us of beautiful cathedrals!  Not to mention the great wildlife we were able to see there!  Deer, elk, prairie dogs, pikas...

After leaving Bryce, we had to take a different route because the roads had washed out.  Luckily this meant a trip through Zion.  I got to play the bagpipes here too!
And we even got to see some Long Horned Sheep climbing along the Checkerboard Mesa!
After Zion we ate dinner at this unusual place called the Thunderbird Restaurant (in Mt. Carmel Junction, UT) -- famous for their "Ho-Made Pies" --- Hmmm, kinda strange name!  But the strawberry rhubarb pie, my favorite, was a solid "8" on my discriminating rating system.  We enjoyed watching the playful hummingbirds as we ate our dinner by the window!

On our way to Page we were blessed not only by rain in the desert!  But by a beautiful rainbow that seemed to arch over our car as we drove through the southern edge of the Grand Staircase!

Time for some rest!
