Day 25 -- Back across the Mississippi

Got on the road with Hunter joining us. Crossed Missouri much faster than I'd thought possible, three hours. Didn't stop for the Arch in St. Louis (that's an action shot).

But did stop for breakfast and lunch in one -- Ted Drewe's famous "concretes," homemade frozen custard with mixins of your choice, so thick they are served upside down (except on a hot humid 95 degree day like today!)  I had brownie mint, Jarad had a Reese's, and Hunter had mint pecan. Mmmmmm!  (PS that's our car in front)

Stopped in Springfield IL hoping to get a tour of Lincoln's home, but they were sold out for the day (I'm sure the groups are kept small).

His library and tomb are here. We'll tour the former tomorrow but saw the latter this afternoon.
What a face of pathos, sculpted by the same man who did Mt. Rushmore, named Borglund. (I think people must rub the nose for luck!)

Had dinner at D'Arcy's Pub, famous from the show "Man vs Food."  Jarad dared to try their Horseshoe sandwich:  Texas toast piled high with a hamburger, chili, and French fries, then smothered in their special American cheese sauce. (For once he didn't want dessert!)

Staying tonight at a very tall round Hilton.
